About the Harvey String Duo
Playing together since 1994, cellist Cassia Harvey and violinist/violist Myanna Harvey combine dynamic original arrangements and compositions with traditional classical music to offer a truly unique selection of music.
In addition to performing as a duo in and around Philadelphia, they are both active teachers, and performing members of the Musicalia Ensemble and the Philmore Trio. Myanna and Cassia have performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and the Philadelphia Academy of Music. They have also performed at the Reading Public Museum, the German Society of Pennsylvania, An Die Musik LIVE!, Sundays at Central, the Trinity Center for Urban Life, the Ethical Society of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and at the Bournemouth International Music Festival, where they won first prize. Cassia and Myanna have performed lecture recitals at Columbia University and Barnard College. In 2016, the duo was profiled in WXPN’s The High Key Portrait Series.
Myanna has been the strings director at the Upper Moreland Summer Arts Program for the past ten years and was music director and conductor of the Cheltenham Youth Orchestra. She has published fourteen books for strings as well as a number of her chamber and orchestral arrangements. Cassia founded C. Harvey Publications, a company that publishes the technique and study books for strings that she has written. The company has sold over 40,000 books since its inception.
