About the DuoCassia and Myanna Harvey have played and performed together since childhood. Theirs is a partnership that spans teaching, writing, publishing, and playing.
Myanna and Cassia have performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and the Philadelphia Academy of Music. They have also performed at venues including the Reading Public Museum, the German Society of Pennsylvania, An Die Musik LIVE!, Sundays at Central, the Trinity Center for Urban Life, the Ethical Society of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and at the Bournemouth International Music Festival, where they won first prize. Cassia and Myanna have performed lecture recitals at Columbia University and Barnard College. In 2016, the duo was profiled in WXPN’s The High Key Portrait Series. Cassia and Myanna are also members of the Musicalia Ensemble, along with pianist-composer Iris Blanco. Myanna’s playing is featured on the CD release Duos and Trios from Four Centuries, and Cassia is playing on The Russian Cello: Rare Treasures from Imperial Russia and the Soviet Union. Cassia and Myanna have written and published over two hundred books for strings and have sold upwards of 90,000 books to customers in over 75 countries. They maintain active teaching studios. There isn’t much spare time but when there is, Myanna enjoys drawing and Cassia looks for vintage furniture to satisfy her love of all things Mid-Century. Myanna lives with her husband in Philadelphia, PA, and Cassia lives with her husband and stepson in Cheltenham, PA. |
